SWH are proud to have worked on a range of MOD military and research sites, throughout the UK, delivering secure and modernised facilities, within highly controlled defence environments.

Working across a range of Military of Defence (MOD) establishments, including operational bases, training centres and specialist research facilities, SWH supports new secure buildings, complex refurbishments, capability upgrades and long‑term estate planning.

Our services cover structural and civil engineering design, including new build structures, refurbishments and secure fencing. We also offer flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and site‑wide masterplanning.

Our sustainability team are experienced in offering DREAM (Defence Related Environmental Assessment Methodology) assessments. We are focussed on helping our projects achieve excellent environmental and sustainability standards, even where confidentiality and access restrictions limit conventional approaches.

Defence sites present unique constraints: stringent security protocols and controlled movement, coordination with multiple stakeholders, as well as the requirement for restricted access. However, we are experienced in working within these challenging conditions, with a commitment to precise sequencing and careful programme planning that ensures the delivery of a project’s requirements with minimal disruption and, importantly, close collaboration with on‑site security and operational teams.
