Project Profile

Crematorium Huntingdon

A new state of the art crematorium; being one of the UKs first purpose built environmentally friendly crematoriums.

Scott White and Hookins provided Civil and Structural Engineering services for this new £10million crematorium facility. Completed in 2021, the new crematorium is state of the art; being one of the UKs first purpose built environmentally friendly crematoriums.

The building houses two electrically powered cremators, the excess heat is recycled throughout the building and an adjacent greenhouse facility adding to its unique sustainability credentials. The steel framed structure can accommodate 120 people within its bespoke circular form.

SUDs was used throughout the site with minimal below ground drainage which not only provided adequate surface water capacity, but supplies water to the landscaping features and to complement the landscape architects vision for crematorium. The foul flows are treated on site via a package treatment plant before being discharged via tertiary treatment to a nearby watercourse.
