Project Profile

Haribo Warehouse Castleford

SWH worked closely to help Haribo team's BREEAM strategy to achieve a Very Good rating at their new warehouse and driver respite area. A holistic approach ensures reduction of waste from the building at all stages of its life.

This project involved the construction of a new sustainable warehouse and driver respite area at Haribo's factory in Castleford.

Scott White and Hookins engaged with the project team from an early stage, which was integral to maximising the sustainability of the development, to establish the team's BREEAM strategy to achieving a Very Good rating.

The building has prioritised operational energy efficiency by ensuring that the building fabric is optimised and the building services are powered using renewable technologies. As a result, the building has achieved Net Zero in Operation.

There has also been a holistic approach to reducing waste from the building at all stages of its life. The contractor has achieved impressive performance for minimising construction stage waste. The building is provided with a dedicated waste area for effective operational waste segregation, and it has been designed to facilitate disassembly at the end of its life, to ensure components can be reused rather than disposed of.

The development also offers plenty of cycle storage parking, as well as high quality showers and changing areas to encourage users to travel sustainably.

Target rating - Very Good
