Denham Station Buckinghamshire Chiltern Railways

Denham Station involved installation of a new platform and span footbridge. SWH acted as lead designers.

SWH provided full civil and structural engineering services, for the installation of a new 192m long platform and 11m span footbridge, with associated lifts and stairs.

We also carried out the temporary works design submissions for the works. We undertook the roles of CEM, CRE and DRE for the project for all the civil and structural elements.

The project comprised installation of a new modular precast platform, within the existing wide way, and demolition of the existing platform, with no significant line closures.

Our key challenges included:

  • Design of piling solution adjacent/between operational railway lines.
  • Forming 15m span steel bridge over existing subway within new platform construction.
