Scott White and Hookins work on a very broad range of retail projects throughout the UK. These include town centre redevelopment, mixed use developments, out of town retail parks and specialist high street retailers in both food and non-food sectors.
Our experience includes initial feasibility studies and site appraisals, developing master plan schemes in conjunction with the architect for planning applications, through to the final detailed design of projects, including new build, extensions and refurbishments.
We have successfully designed numerous retail related projects on town centre, ‘brownfield’ and ‘greenfield’ sites for a variety of clients.
- New Superstore.
- Extension or refurbishment of existing store.
- Alterations for disabled access.
- Individual Retail Units.
- Associated fast food outlets and filling stations.
- External works.
- Road re-alignments for new site access.
- Distribution centres.
- Mixed use retail, leisure and office development.
We have valuable knowledge of viable design solutions utilising different forms of construction suited to the requirements of the retail sector. We appreciate that projects can be fast moving with short deadlines and we are able to provide clear and concise advice in order to meet the desired programme.
A number of retail buildings in England were built in the 1960’s and 70’s, or in some cases earlier. One of the biggest opportunities in the near future is to reduce the environmental impact of these existing buildings. Our assessors have experience of maximising the BREEAM scoring potential for major refurbishment of retail buildings, including where linked to planning requirements for the final rating. In cases where major work isn’t planned, as BREEAM In-Use assessors, we can help evaluate and maximise the existing building efficiency.
