The Tower Bridge Tour
There’s a lot of history to this world famous attraction, designed to illuminate the structure’s colourful past and present. The Behind-the-Scenes Tower Bridge tour is easily the most fascinating offering, as a host takes visitors into off-limits areas such as the Bridge Control Room, Machinery Room and the Bascule Chambers which sink below water-level.
The attraction’s exhibition has just launched its most significant development in Tower Bridge history since 1982 - the glass walkway. Housed in the West Walkway, visitors can admire Tower Bridge from a unique perspective and look down on passing boats and pedestrians underfoot and even catch the bascules rising if you time it right. From 42m above the river, the glass walkway is a must-see - if you need any more convincing, the Tower Bridge glass floor is made up of five thick layers and can hold the equivalent weight of an elephant and two taxis. So, you’re pretty safe!
