The House that Alice Built

Scott White & Hookins Graduate Alice Lisle-Denny has been nominated for an award for her work in helping an African family build a new home to replace a mud hut.

The House that Alice Built

At the end of last year Alice flew out to Tanzania to project manage the construction of a new house for a family she had met during a previous visit in 2010 when she volunteered in a local village orphanage for 6 weeks. It was during this time that she met Mama Costanzia and her family and having seen the poor condition of the family’s mud hut home she decided to make a difference and build them a new house complete with outside toilet.

Under the guidance of the charity ‘The House that Zac Built’ Alice spent six weeks in Africa managing the project as well as getting her hands dirty to successfully deliver the new home to the family in time for Christmas.

Alice, a graduate at our Winchester office, was nominated and came 2nd for the Bedfordshire YOPEY Award for her work and we are very proud of her achievement.
