We are a medium sized dynamic STRUCTURAL & CIVIL ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY, and are seeking to recruit a CHARTERED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER at our WINCHESTER Office.

We are looking for a motivated chartered or near chartered engineer to work in our busy WINCHESTER office. We can offer you work on a wide variety of challenging and interesting projects covering many different construction sectors, with an unlimited opportunity to progress within our company. Established in 1963 the practice employs over 70 staff in 3 UK offices. We have a very full order book working across a wide range of sectors including education, commercial, leisure, rail and temporary structures.

You should be chartered or near chartered and have approximately 5 years relevant experience as a design engineer in an engineering consultancy or design office. You will have experience of highways and  transportation, and a working knowledge of relevant software packages. Experience of preparing green travel plans would be beneficial but not essential.

It is expected that you will be required to work on several projects at any one time with the ability to take jobs from inception to completion working under your own initiative. You will have good multi tasking capabilities and be a lateral thinker with experience of leading a small design team.

Your Continuous Professional Development is encouraged and we would support you towards professional membership of the IHT, ICE or equivalent, if you have not obtained this already.

You will be working in a professional office based environment and be expected to dress in a presentable manner, suitable for meeting with clients.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work under your own initiative to take jobs from inception to completion;
  • Undertake and supervise design and production of drawings;
  • Lead a design team with responsibility for roads and drainage projects;
  • Provide support to other engineers on larger projects;
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external project teams
  • Attend meetings and undertake site visits;
  • Develop ongoing relationships with other professionals and clients;
  • Look for new business development opportunities;

Our Requirements

  • MEng or BEng Honours in Civil Engineering;
  • Achieved chartered status or near chartered status with IHT, ICE or equivalent;
  • 5 years consulting or design office experience in civil engineering;
  • Ability to work under own initiative and lead a design team;
  • A working knowledge of relevant design codes and suitable software;
  • A good grasp of the English Language.
