Secure Establishments

Scott White and Hookins provides Civil and Structural engineering and CDM Coordinator services in the private and public sector for a wide range of clients operating in the security field.

Operating under separate Commissions or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, projects are typically undertaken within Framework Agreements or as one-off multi-million pound Capital Works to upgrade facilities within large existing Estates. Projects have been let under a variety of contracts including traditional, design and build, two-stage tender, construction management and Procure 21.

The range of security works projects undertaken by Scott White and Hookins in recent years has included the following:

  • A new 70 bed specialist Mental Health unit, a new Sports and Visits Centre, new site-wide perimeter security fences and walls together with new access roads, etc for a High Security NHS Hospital.
  • Large-Medium Secure Units for both an NHS Hospital and a private health charity.
  • Alterations and extensions to numerous other buildings and structures within a number of secure sites including High Security and Medium Secure NHS Hospital environments, various HM Prison Establishments and MOD military and research sites.
  • New Police Stations.

Each project has given Scott-White and Hookins an unrivalled experience of working within secure environments and a valuable appreciation of security checking, working with escorts, and appropriate behaviour in the presence of building occupants and staff. In addition we appreciate the need to minimise disruption and to ensure that the safety and security of staff and building occupants is not compromised during any Works.

We can also bring our experience and knowledge to the table when participating in risk management meetings, Health and Safety hazard registers and achieving appropriate BREEAM levels.

Scott White and Hookins are familiar with operating within secure regulations including document control and checking procedures.

Where appropriate Scott-White and Hookins staff have received the necessary security clearances.
