
Since its formation in 1963, Scott White and Hookins has grown, matured and developed into one of the leading practices in the UK. Below is a brief outline of our history.
2009
Peter Blackmore retires after 42 years in the Practice.
Gordon Lockhart elected to become Managing Partner.
Scott White and Hookins instigate new business management system combining Environmental (ISO 14001) and Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001) and Quality (ISO 9001) standards into one integrated system.
2008
Graham Wilkins retires after 37 years in the Practice.
Jason Daniels and Richard Hemming accept invitations to become Partners.
Scott White and Hookins accredited to latest quality standard ISO 9001:2008.
2007
Doug Clasby retires after 32 years in the Practice.
Gary Fells accepts an invitation to become a Director of SW&H.
SW&H Health and Safety Limited trains staff in environmental management and BREEAM assessments and starts to provide the service to clients.
2006
Peter Blackmore appointed as first Chairman of the Practice for a three year period.
Martin Boyce accepts an invitation to become a Partner.
2003
Scott White and Hookins achieve accreditation under the Investors in People (IIP) scheme which it currently maintains.
Since its inception, Scott White and Hookins has supported the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). All of our technical staff became qualified under this scheme by 1st January 2004.
2002
Graham Barber accepts an invitation to become a Director of SW&H Safety Limited.
2001
Doug Alcock accepts an invitation to become a Partner.

SW&H Services Limited approved by Secretary of State for the Environment as an Approved Inspector in respect of Building Regulations.
John O'Gorman accepts an invitation to become a Partner.
1998
Founder Partner Barry Hookins retires.
1997
Mike Weaver accepts an invitation to become a Partner.
1996
Our first website was launched on valentines day, 14th February 1996.
1995
Founder Partner Ray Scott-White retires
1994
SW&H Services Limited accredited to BS5750:Part 1 for Quality Assurance with BSi.
SW&H Health and Safety Limited formed as an associate company to provide CDM Services and advice on health and safety matters.
1991
In 1991 Scott White and Hookins became one of the first structural engineering consultancies in the UK to be accredited to BS5750:Part 1 for Quality Assurance with BSi.
Note: This was the forerunner to ISO 9001 which superseded BS5750 about 10 years later.
1990
Nigel Westwood accepts an invitation to become a Partner.

Winchester office relocates to the other side of the city to its current address at Harman House, Andover Road.
1987
Bedford office relocates to its current address at 26 St John's Street, Bedford.
1986
SW&H Services Ltd formed in Carshalton offering specialised services in Building Regulations, Structural Inspections and Party Wall matters.
1983
Sutton Office closes and staff transfer to the Carshalton Office.
1981
Doug Clasby and Graham Wilkins accept invitations to become Partners.
Graham Wilkins and Gordon Lockhart move to Winchester to open another regional office at Anglo-City House, Southgate Street, Winchester.

Peter Blackmore accepts an invitation to become a Partner.
Scott White and Hookins open a new office in Carshalton, which still remains at its current address, 42 West Street, Carshalton.
The scale of projects undertaken becomes increasingly larger, with such projects as SEGAS and hangers/aprons for Freddie Laker!
1971
On 1st July, Scott White and Hookins send Peter Blackmore to open its first regional office in Ampthill, Bedfordshire to service a growing workload in the Midlands and East Anglia with clients including Cambridge University (Cambridge Science Park) and the Property Services Agency.
1966
Scott White and Hookins grow to 6 staff and move to Davis House, London Road, Mitcham closely followed by another expansion move to Helena House in neighbouring Sutton.
1963
On 1st July 1963 Ray Scott-White and Barrie Hookins form the Partnership and set up office above the Mitcham Building Society in Mitcham High Street.
